This initiative provides grant funding to bases to support the welfare and amenity available to Air Force Aviators and their dependants. Such as mess furniture, equipment and games, kitchen appliances and community events.
The Base Welfare Grant Scheme is run in parallel with Hamilton Funding Initiative.
The Royal Australian Air Force Welfare Trust Fund (RWTF) was established under the Services Trust Funds Act 1947 and started with seed money of sixty thousand pounds from the proceeds of disbanded wartime messes. It is administered in the interests of serving and ex-serving members of the RAAF and their dependants. The RWTF’s primary focus is to enhance the benefits available to eligible persons by way of low cost loans, grants and insurance.
The RWTF operates within the Defence portfolio and reports to the Minister for Defence Personnel, the Hon Matt Keogh.
The RWTF comprises a Board of Trustees appointed by the Minister. The Board is empowered to engage such clerical and other assistance in the management or administration of the RWTF as it considers necessary.
The RWTF governance framework clearly defines roles, responsibilities and accountabilities and mechanisms to manage and monitor performance. The Board of Trustees and RWTF employees conduct their duties in accordance with the RWTF Code of Conduct.
